Driving a New Era of Accessible Diagnostics
- In healthcare, timely and accurate diagnostics often shape the course of treatment. Yet, for many years, access to advanced laboratory technology remained a challenge for public healthcare institutions. Maheshwari Sales Corporation has spent more than three decades changing that reality by ensuring government hospitals have access to the same high-quality diagnostic standards as their private-sector counterparts.
- The journey began in 1990 when Ajit Mukteshwar Inamdar founded the company with a simple but powerful vision—to make advanced diagnostic solutions both accessible and affordable. Starting with the distribution of a single diagnostic kit, it steadily expanded its capabilities and transformed into a comprehensive provider of end-to-end laboratory solutions, working primarily through government tenders.
- Within a short period, Maheshwari Sales Corporation was serving eight hospitals and 32 municipal dispensaries, facilitating nearly 4,000 diagnostic tests every day and strengthening public healthcare services across the PCMC region. A significant milestone came in 2019 when Ajit Inamdar’s son, Anup Inamdar joined to lead technical operations and strategic execution. This added fresh technical expertise and positioned the company for its next phase of growth.
Redefining Diagnostics
- That leadership proved invaluable during the COVID-19 pandemic. Responding swiftly to the unprecedented healthcare crisis, the company established and operated RT-PCR laboratories while also managing three COVID hospital laboratories under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Throughout this period, Maheshwari Sales Corporation remained focused on one objective: ensuring that patients visiting government hospitals received diagnostic services that matched the quality standards of private healthcare institutions.
Standing Out
- One of the company's defining strengths lies in its Zero CapEx, revenue-based business model. Rather than requiring hospitals to make significant upfront investments in expensive laboratory infrastructure, it invests in advanced diagnostic equipment itself, allowing healthcare institutions to access cutting-edge technology without the burden of capital expenditure. This also gives hospitals the flexibility to choose equipment from leading manufacturers based on clinical requirements, diagnostic accuracy, and cost efficiency. This approach helps healthcare administrators optimise resources while ensuring patients benefit from reliable and modern diagnostic services.
- Today, the company's contribution extends well beyond supplying equipment. With successful installations in 750-bed and 200-bed government hospitals, Maheshwari Sales Corporation supports public healthcare by improving operational efficiency, enhancing staff capabilities, and strengthening the overall quality of patient care.
Looking Ahead
- The organisation aims to extend its proven model to more government bodies, establish a presence in the corporate health check-up segment through on-site diagnostic services across India, and eventually take Indian laboratory solutions to international markets.
- "With support from international platforms like GIBF, the company is poised to extend its impact beyond borders—while staying true to its core purpose of equitable, high-quality diagnostics for all," emphasizes Anup.
