Towards Clean Technology
In collaboration with BITS Pilani Hyderabad, KAASHYAP developed the High-Rate Complete Mix (HRCM) reactor, an innovation that optimizes mixing across all three phases—solids, liquids and gases—to enhance biogas production beyond conventional Continuous Stirred Tank Reactors (CSTR) and other technologies.
The company's innovation extends to Napier grass-based Compressed Biogas (CBG) projects. Its breakthrough operational mechanism divides raw Napier grass into two feed streams—Napier Grass Juice and Napier Grass Fibre. The liquid juice is easily digested by anaerobes in a dedicated digester, while the fibres undergo Dry Digestion Technology in a separate digester. This approach maximizes the conversion of the grass's Bio-methane Potential (BMP), delivering maximum CBG per metric tonne, minimizing plant downtime and generating the highest possible annual revenue for CBG plant developers.
Addressing residual slurry management, KAASHYAP, in partnership with IIT Hyderabad and under Government of India initiatives SERB (Science and Engineering Research Board), UAY (Uchchatar Avishkar Yojana) and IMPRINT (Impacting Research Innovation and Technology), designed a NEW WATER PLANT that extracts fresh water from slurry for recycling and reuse. This provides long-term water security for industries without dependence on external sources.
The Specialty
KAASHYAP specializes in capturing large quantities of methane from wastewater generated by agro-based industries, including sugar, ethanol, starch, palm oil mills, olive oil and marigold flower processing units. The resulting biogas can be used as industrial fuel, for power generation or converted into CBG.
It also developed alternative to energy-intensive industrial air blowers used in wastewater treatment. By harnessing Diatom, a micro-algae, KAASHYAP has engineered a symbiotic relationship between Diatom and aerobic bacteria, enabling oxygen generation and wastewater treatment without air blowers.
KAASHYAP also pioneered in producing Methanol from CO2 and Biogas through a biological route—the only company in the world pursuing this approach—and its integration of CBG and Methanol plants with Ethanol plants to create a complete circular economy.
Going Global
KAASHYAP has commissioned the first-ever tank-based biogas plant for a palm oil industry in Malaysia and is now looking to expand further across Southeast Asia.
