The growth journey of Shree Kamakshi Silver is a compelling example of how vision, perseverance, and generational legacy can transform a modest enterprise into a thriving business. From a humble 200 sq ft shop to a well-designed 1,100 sq ft manufacturing and retail showroom, the brand’s evolution reflects decades of craftsmanship and strategic expansion.
The Beginning
The roots of the business go back nearly 50 years, when Prakash Krishnaji Shirodkar established a silver manufacturing unit specializing in traditional silver articles. His son, Kiran Prakash Shirodkar, joined the family business after completing his schooling. While deeply grounded in tradition, Kiran was driven by a strong desire to grow beyond the existing scale of operations.
“To gain deeper industry exposure, I spent two years from 2005 to 2007 in Kolhapur, working at a friend’s silver shop to understand market dynamics, customer expectations, and operational practices,” shares Kiran. This hands-on experience proved invaluable in shaping his entrepreneurial vision.
He took the business ahead as the Founder of Shree Kamakshi Silver, and there has been no looking back since then.
Marching Ahead
A significant turning point came in 2007, when Kiran started a separate shop focusing on silver bullion and counter-filling, while also offering a wide range of silver articles, ornaments, puja items, and utensils. This marked the beginning of diversification and expansion for Shree Kamakshi Silver.
With a clear roadmap for growth, Kiran acquired 1,400 sq ft of land in 2019. Despite the challenges of the pandemic and lockdown, the vision materialized in 2021 with the launch of an elegant, spacious 1,100 sq ft showroom that seamlessly integrates manufacturing with retail.
Based in Belagavi, Karnataka, the company serves clients across Tamil Nadu, Goa, Maharashtra, Rajkot (Gujarat), Delhi, and Agra.
Standing Out
Today, Shree Kamakshi Silver is recognized as a one-stop silver shop, offering everything that can be made in silver.
“From the smallest needle to large samais (traditional oil lamps), we have it all. Any item available in steel is also available here in silver. The business also caters to temples, fulfilling customized requirements such as puja articles, idols, and accessories,” shares Kiran.
He now has a working partner, Ganesh Lakshman Bhatkhande, which has made things easier to manage.

Looking ahead, Shree Kamakshi Silver aims to expand further through online platforms, with aspirations to reach global markets while continuing to deliver exceptional quality and craftsmanship.
