No one had ever thought one could become a billionaire business tycoon by telling people how to do yoga, Acharya Balkrishna, the CEO of yoga guru Baba Ramdev-run FMCG Company Patanjali Ayurved made it possible. Other than CEO of Patanjali Ayurved, he is also the Vice-Chancellor of Patanjali University, Founder and General Secretary of Patanjali Yogpeeth and Divya Yog Mandir (Trust). He is also the chief editor of “Yog Sandesh”- A Monthly Magazine run by non-other than Baba Ramdev. In March 2017, he got featured in the Forbes list of the World's Billionaires at 814th spot with a net worth of US$6.1 billion. Currently, he is the 15th richest man in India with a net worth of US$4.9 Billion.
His optimistic vision turned him into a multi-faceted genius and personality with knowledge and experience in the administrative and managerial fields. His expertise & knowledge is admired by one and all in India and abroad. Famous magazines like ‘India Today’ (Nov 2009) and ‘Outlook’ (Jan 2010) acknowledges him among the ‘Ten Versatile and Dynamic Young Men of India’. He is honoured with D. Literature (Yoga) by S-VYASA and the faculty of Management by APS University, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, India. His simple living and high thinking approach made him the ‘Most Followed Entrepreneur’ in India on Social Media with more than 7 Million followers at various social media platforms.
To understand his optimistic vision, one doesn't need to see far back in past. With growing use of internet in India, he acknowledged the power of digital shopping (E-commerce) and inked agreements of Patanjali with several e-commerce giants, such as Amazon, Flipkart and BigBasket. This helped the Patanjali to turn into an FMCG giant in India. This can be seen as, just after a few years of foundation, Patanjali Ayurved went on to become the fastest growing FMCG company in the 2010s. With annual revenue of $1.6 billion, today Patanjali sells everything from herbal toothpastes and cosmetics to noodles and jams. He says, “We want to use this wealth to serve others and not ourselves.”
Acharya Balkrishna life was not as magnificent as it is now. He was born on 4 August 1972 in Syangja, Gandaki Pradesh, Nepal. His parents Mrs Sumitra Devi and Mr Jay Vallabh Subedi hail from Nepal. His father was a security guard in an “Ashram” (Hermitage) in Uttarakhand, India. To receive an education, he enrolled at Kalawa Gurukul in Haryana with the yoga guru and now, the face of Patanjali Ayurved, Baba Ramdev. After receiving education, he travelled a lot across the India to study plant and their medical properties.
By rigorously following the above mentioned ground rules, after five years they were able to increase their customer database from Western Maharashtra to all over India in terms of the Sugar Industries.
